Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black Forest Gâteau)

Arguably the most well-known of German cakes, the Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte or Black Forest Gâteau is not named directly after the Black Forest itself, but rather the region’s specialty cherry liquor Schwarzwälder Kirschwasser. Our ode to this classic cake features chocolate sponge layers soaked in a kirschwasser syrup, sandwiched between layers of vanilla cream and chocolate ganache, covered in more cream, ganache, chocolate shavings and cherries. This decadent cake will leave you wanting more.
